Here we go!
Okay – fill up those comments with your suggestions for things to do in Maui – we’ll be staying in Kihei with a rental car, and although the weather forecast doesn’t look fantastic, we’re ready to have a great time!
Been to Maui? Let us know what’s great, can’t miss, best experiences, etc. and hopefully we’ll be able to do the same for you!
Best beach: Big beach! But heed the lifeguard cautions. And if you want to go nude, Little beach is just around the corner. http://www.gohawaii.com/en/maui/regions-neighborhoods/south-maui/makena-beach/
Have fun!
Awesome – thanks, Faye! (We may not be quite that west coast yet!)
More!
Go upcountry to party in Makawao Friday night: http://mauifridays.com/2014/12/12/makawao-third-fridays/
Very good Japanese – if they still have early bird specials, go then: http://sanseihawaii.com/kihei/
And anytime is time for Ono Gelato: http://www.onogelatokihei.com/#home
Thanks, Faye! At this rate we’ll never come home!
One more thing…
Best shave ice is Local Boys in Lahaina. There’s one in Kihei too but it’s not the original….
Great! Thanks, Heather!
Hi Robin,
We were there in December and have some great recommendations!
1. Breakfast at the Kihei Cafe. Great food. Don’t worry about the line up it moves fast and the food is worth the wait. Walk the beach across the street afterwards to work it all off!
2. Dinner at Fat Daddy’ Smoke house. Also located in central Kihei, we had takeout from this restaurant on our last night in town. Wish we had found it sooner! You can also eat in.
3. Boogie boarding at Fleming Beach. This is so fun! Rent the boards at Boss Frogs and hit the surf!
4. Snorkelling at Kamaole – Better than the snorkel tour we bought which took us out on a boat.
Have a great time! Wish we were there!!!
Fantastic – thanks, Heather! Kehei Cafe has been recommended by everyone so we’ll be sure to go. Fat Daddy’s sounds awesome – maybe we’ll pick something up on our way through tonight! Sharon was looking for easy surf-type options today and we’ve brought our own snorkel gear, so here’s hoping the turtles are are easy to find! Great recommendations, thanks again.
